When it does, the plan set carries a water budget calculation, a hydrozone plan, and an irrigation schedule, which the designer prepares as part of the drawing package.

Do plants go in before or after the patio?

After, on any well-sequenced job. Hardscape work means wheelbarrows, saw cuts, base rock, and concrete trucks moving across the yard, and finish planting installed before that is planting installed twice. The normal order is demolition, rough grade, hardscape, irrigation, fine grade, planting, mulch, then lighting aim and controller programming on the final day.

What happens to the design drawings if the project does not go ahead?

That depends on how the design was quoted. Some Folsom-area designers fold the plan cost into the installation price, which means the drawings belong to the project rather than to you if you walk away. Others charge a separate design fee and hand over the drawings either way. Both are normal, and the written quote says which arrangement applies.
